21 killed in a terror attack on Bacha Khan University Charsadda.

All terrorists were killed during the operation carried out by Pakistan Army.

PESHAWAR: Heavy firing and several blasts were heard when four terrorists entered Bacha Khan University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Charsadda town on Wednesday; more than 3,000 students are enrolled in the university.

“The death toll in the terrorist attack has risen to 21,” said Director Inspector General Mardan Saeed Wazir. He also added that the operation has come to an end with most of the student victims shot dead at a hostel for boys inside the building.

Inter-Service Public Relations stated that all four terrorists were killed during the operation carried out by Pakistan Army.

According to Rescue 1122, the injured have been transferred to different hospitals in Charsadda and Peshawar. All hospitals throughout the town are ordered to remain on high alert. Professor Dr. Syed Hamid of the university is amongst the martyrs.

Minister for Health and Information Shaukat Ali Yousafzai stated that 50 to 60 people have been injured that includes students, faculty and the police.

In addition, witnesses state that they were able to see one terrorist on the roof of the building and one near Hostel-1 of the university.

Pakistan Army and Pakistan Army Commandos were quick to respond and arrived on time. The police surrounded the premises and Air Surveillance was carried out. Pakistan Army responded with the action of carrying out an operation inside the building.

According to witnesses and security in charge of Bacha Khan University, the terrorists used the intense fog as an advantage and entered the premises through the back wall of the building.

Deputy Commissioner Charsadda expressed that it is not possible to provide all details at the moment. Once the operation is completed, we will be able to provide full details.

The families of students gathered outside the university. Journalists and all other additional workers were requested to stay back in order to not get in the way with the security operation.
Furthermore, all schools have been closed down in Charsadda following the attack.

In 2014, Pakistan experienced a deadliest terrorist attack of the same sort that took many lives most of which were children.

On 16 December 2014, seven gunmen affiliated with Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) conducted a terrorist attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan. The militants, all of whom were foreign nationals, entered the school and opened fire on school staff and children, killing 141 people, including 132 schoolchildren, ranging between eight and eighteen years of age.

A rescue operation was launched by the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) Special Forces, who killed all seven terrorists and rescued 960 people. On 2 December 2015, Pakistan hanged four militants involved in the Peshawar massacre.
