State funeral given to Shashi Kapoor in presence of family, film fraternity
The actor was honored with a three-gun salute.
MUMBAI (Dunya News) – Romantic screen icon of the 70s and 80s Shashi Kapoor has been cremated with state funeral in the presence of his family members and film fraternity.
The deceased, who breathed his last on Monday at a hospital in Mumbai, was honored with a three-gun salute. About a dozen policemen took the body, wrapped in a national flag, from the ambulance for last rituals.
A number of prominent Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta, Naseeruddin Shah, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Salim Khan along with Kapoor family members - Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor (Shashi Kapoor’s sons), Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor arrived at the scene with umbrellas and raincoats to say last good bye to the actor.

Padma Bhushan in 2011 and Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015, Shashi got the best of what the fraternity and the government had to offer.
Jennifer Kendal, daughter of a theatre group founder met the man in Calcutta, his birth place, and fell in love with him. The two got married after two subsequent years with Kendal’s family objecting to the relation first.
However, Kendal, sister of Hollywood actress Felicity Kendal, left the man mourning in 1984 as she passed away of cancer.
‘Doosara Aadmi’ actor is survived by three children namely, Kunal Kapoor, Sanjana Kapoor and Karan Kapoor. Neither of the three continued their careers in films owing to their accented Hindi and non-Indian looks lent by late mother.
Some of his most sucessful films include Kabhi Kabhie (1976), Jaanwar Aur Insaan (1972), Pighalta Aasman (1985), Doosara Aadmi (1977), Baseraa (1981), Suhana Safar (1970), Zameen Aasman.
The man was one of the very early batch of Indians who worked in European and British films. He worked opposite his sister-in law Felicity in Shakespeare Wallah (1965), Heat and Dust (1982), Pretty Polly, Sammy And Rosie Get Laid (1987) among others.
