Summary Pakistan resumes Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, targeting militants linked to Afghan Taliban areas and urging Afghanistan to end support for proxy networks.

ISLAMABAD (Adeel Warraich) – Pakistani military has resumed its ongoing campaign, Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, with renewed focus on militant networks, including those operating from or supported within areas under Afghan Taliban control.

Security sources described the operation as a sustained, precise and targeted military effort aimed at dismantling militant leadership, their facilitation networks, command structures and logistical support systems. The campaign, officials said, is being executed through intelligence-driven actions designed to neutralise operational capabilities of groups threatening Pakistan’s security.

A significant aspect of the operation involves action against elements believed to be receiving assistance or safe haven in Afghanistan. According to officials, facilitators and support structures linked to militant groups are active in regions under Afghan Taliban administration, raising concerns about cross-border coordination and backing.

The operation had been temporarily paused during Eidul Fitr following requests from friendly Islamic countries, in what officials termed a humanitarian and diplomatic gesture. This pause remained in place until the night between 23 and 24 March 2026, after which military activities resumed across targeted areas.

Security authorities clarified that the temporary suspension did not indicate any change in operational intent. With the resumption now in effect, the campaign has regained momentum, continuing its phased approach combining ground operations with aerial precision strikes.

Officials further stressed the importance of addressing the regional dimension of militancy, urging the Afghan Taliban government to reconsider its policies. They called on authorities in Afghanistan to cease any form of support or tolerance for militant proxies and to prioritise the broader interests of Afghan civilians as well as regional stability, including relations with Pakistan.

The operation, sources maintained, will continue without interruption until all objectives are fully achieved, with a particular emphasis on dismantling cross-border networks and eliminating threats linked to Afghan territory.
