PM Imran directs federal depts to provide relief to people in rain-hit Karachi

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Wednesday has directed the federal departments to provide relief to the people living in the rain affected areas in Karachi.

While reacting on the metropolis situation after torrential monsoon rain, the premier has ordered to use all the resources to help the general masses in this time of need.

PM further appreciated National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Pakistan Army for their assistance in handling the devastated situation caused by the downpour.

It is to be mentioned here that the torrential rains in Sindh including Karachi have inundated low-lying areas, creating trouble for the locals.

The downpour was reported from several localities in the city including Surjani Town, Baloch Colony, Shahra-e-Faisal, Nursery, PECHS, Ferozabad Mahmoodabad, Cantt Station, Qayyumabad, Defence, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad and other areas.

The Lath and Thado dams have overflowed in Kirthar regions after heavy rains in Karachi. Pakistan Army teams have reached to help the civilians.

In addition, the accumulation of three to four feet of water in certain residential areas of the city hinders traffic flow and causes traffic congestion. Edhi volunteers rescued six people, including a policeman, who were trapped in rainwater at the Korangi Causeway.
