ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday appointed former spokesperson of the Punjab chief minister and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr Shahbaz Gill as Special Assistant for Political Communication.

A notification was issued by the Cabinet Secretariat announcing the new appointment. His appointment will be an honorary appointment.

On the other hand, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry took to the social networking website Twitter and congratulated Dr Shahbaz Gill on being given the responsibility of political communication.

In September last year, Chief Spokesperson to the Punjan Chief Minister Dr Shahbaz Gill had resigned from his position.

The spokesperson to the chief minister resigned via a handwritten note addressed to Punjab CM Usman Buzdar. Gill did not cite any reason behind his abrupt decision.

Previously, Dr Shahbaz Gill had come under fire for comments that labelled lady constable Faiza Nawaz as "emotional" and touted "misinformation" and "provocation" pertaining to a case involving Nawaz.
