Diesel shortage in Pakistan likely to persist till June.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Petroleum Division has failed to provide timely diesel supply to the wheat growers despite passing of ten days and the shortage will continue for the coming ten as well, Roznama Dunya reported on Tuesday.

The transporters will go on Eid holidays after ten days and the situation will improve only after June 1. However, the diesel shortage will further increase if public transport is opened before or after Eid.

The Petroleum Division has admitted that there is shortfall of diesel in the country but the situation will soon improve. A dealer, associated with petroleum products, told that all marketing companies in areas where wheat is being harvested have run short of diesel.

It has further been learnt that all burden is on the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) at the moment and several petrol pumps are storing diesel to deal with emergency situation.

Another dealer told that there is no chance in improvement of situation for next ten days as tankers will reach Karachi ports in two days and diesel will be supplied to other parts of the country in four to seven days afterwards.
