Govt accepts demands of protesting Utility Stores workers

The government on Thursday has accepted the demands put forth by protesting Utility Stores workers.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government on Thursday has accepted the demands put forth by the protesting Utility Stores’ workers for permanent contracts and against proposed privatization of the corporation After which the four-day long sit-in protest by Utility Stores’ workers in Islamabad was called off.

The announcement of acceptance of demands came after successful negotiations between Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Textiles, Abdul Razzaq Dawood and protesting Utility Stores’ workers.

Razzaq Dawood assured them that government has accepted their demand to resolve the issues of daily wages and their contracts will be made permanent. He said that the government has also accepted their demand of not privatizing the Utility Stores Corporation.

On the other hand, the participants of the sit-in protest have welcomed the government assurance and called off their sit-in protest after four days.
