Buyers at cattle markets wait for last minute price cuts

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The sale of sacrificial animals across country’s makeshift cattle markets are gearing up as customers throng the different markets to collect their animals on the last day before Eidul Azha on Tuesday.
The rush picked up from Tuesday morning, but cattle sellers said it would intensify further in the afternoon and continue till early Wednesday morning.
Cattle traders are expecting for a good business ahead of Eid as the sale of sacrificial animals is getting momentum on the last day before Eid.
Despite the rush, the sellers are reluctant to drop prices while the customers hold out hope for prices to fall further, resulting in slower cattle sales.
Flocks of sacrificial animals were available in city markets to be sold on Eid for the purpose of sacrifice.
The price of a normal goat is being demanded between Rs 30,000 to Rs 70,000 while the price of a cow with normal weight is between Rs 90, 000 to 200,000.
Businessmen from Punjab and Sindh provinces, besides domestic traders, have brought animals in large number to the lucrative markets, which attracts buyers not only from Khyber Pakthunkhwa, but also from neighbouring Afghanistan.
