Imran Khan opposes hung parliament

Khan has repeatedly spoken against forming alliance with any political party to form government stressing that a powerful government is the need of the hour.

In his interview to British Broadcasting Company on Friday, he said that it would be to sit on opposition benches than shaking hand with Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Khan said that it would be unfortunate if there if a hung parliament in the country, adding that the PTI would try to form government without entering into an alliance with PPP or PML-N and if they couldn’t, they would prefer to sit in opposition benches.

The PTI chairman said that hung parliaments are always weak, adding that Pakistan needs a strong parliament.

“A stronger government is needed to tackle the kind of economic crisis and difficulties Pakistan is facing,” he said.

Khan went on to say that it would be impossible to introduce reforms after entering alliance with PPP or PML-N, adding that the plan to strengthen institutions would not be possible.
