ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court on Tuesday has adjourned hearings of Al-Azizia Steel Mills and Flagship Investments references without any proceedings till Wednesday.

During the hearing, Justice Mohammad Bashir told the ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer that his petitions seeking transfer of cases to another court have been forwarded to Islamabad High Court (IHC).

NAB judge has also assured media coverage of Sharif family’s jail trial.

Earlier, Judge Muhammad Bashir had excused from hearing references against former prime minister and his family filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with the Supreme Court verdict in Panamagate case.

The judge stated that he had given judgment in a case pertaining to Avenfield reference against the ex-PM and his family, adding that Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer had raised objections after which, it would not be possible for him to hear the cases.

Khawaja Harris had said that Muhammad Bashir had given verdict in Avenfield reference so he cannot hear the other two references.

It is pertinent here to mention that on Friday, accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir had sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 10 years, his daughter Maryam to seven years and son-in-law, Muhammad Safdar to one-year imprisonment in a corruption case named Avenfield Apartment reference.

The sentences, delivered in absentia, against Nawaz Sharif and his daughter who is widely seen as his political heir, have dealt a blow to their Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party.
