ECP forms 20 tribunals to hear cases related to nomination papers
Revised list of candidates will be published by June 28
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday formed 20 appellate tribunals for disposing appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers for the upcoming elections.
According to details, the commission constituted 20 tribunals comprising of High Court judges.
According to the notification, eight tribunals for Punjab, six for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four for Sindh, while two for Balochistan have been formed.
The candidates can file their appeals against decisions of Returning Officers till June 22, while appeals will be decided by appellate tribunals by June 27.
Revised list of candidates will be published by June 28.
Meanwhile, the Commission will complete the process of scrutiny of nomination papers filed by candidates for upcoming general elections on Tuesday.
According to Election Commission, a total of 21,482 nomination papers have been filed across the country for national and provincial assemblies.
As many as 6063 candidates are contesting for 342 seats of the National Assembly while 15419 nomination papers have been filed for the provincial assemblies seats.
As per the election schedule, appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers can be filed by June 22.
