Lahore: Fire in bakery leaves five dead

Eruption of fire in a bakery in Barkat Market left 5 dead this morning.

LAHORE (Dunya News) –  Five people died due to suffocation as fire erupted in a bakery in Barkat Market this morning.

Reportedly, fire erupted due to short circuiting at 6:30am.



Among the dead include 15-year old Shakeel, 30-year old Talib, 25-year-old Shehbaz and 40-year-old Shahid among others whereas one victim is still to be identified.

Fire brigade and rescue teams arrived at the scene and evacuated the people stuck in the plaza through snorkels.



According to the rescue officials, there was no fire alarm in the building. In addition, the people on the upper storey had no idea about the fire downstairs.

Police has arrested plaza owner Aleem and say that the deceased could not find way to escape from the building which resulted in their deaths.



On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif while summoning report has ordered probe into the incident .
