Deadlock persists over opposition's mutual candidate for Senate elections

Several meetings of the opposition to select a mutual candidate also ended in vain.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A deadlock among the opposition still persisted on Thursday over their mutual candidate for Senate elections.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Chaudhry Sarwar and Pakistan Muslim League-Q’s Kamil Aga will contest the elections whereas Pakistan

Peoples Party has given the party ticket to Nawaz Shehzad, son-in-law of Manzoor Wattoo. Several meetings of the opposition to select a mutual candidate also ended in vain.

PTI has at least 30 while PPP and PML-Q have eight each members in Punjab Assembly.

PML-Q leader Moonis Elahi says that efforts are underway to to bring forward a mutual candidate whereas PTI has been also been asked to support the party’s candidate.
