Petition filed in LHC

On the other hand, a miscellaneous petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against petrol’s price hike.

Federal government, Ogra and other concerned departments have been made parties in the case. The plea says that government’s statement pertaining to increase in prices of petroleum products is baseless.

It notifies that the price hike is due to the recovery of additional sales tax.

The plea further maintains that more than 15% sales tax on petroleum products in unconstitutional therefore; the court should term it invalid and direct decrease in the prices.

Resolution submitted in Punjab Assembly

A resolution was also submitted in the Punjab Assembly condemning the increase in petrol prices. It says that the government is continuously raising the prices from the past several months due to which inflation is swelling in the country.

The resolution has demanded that the government should withdraw its decision immediately.
