KP police unable to arrest Asma's murderer after 13 days

Asma went missing on Jan 14 in Mardan's Gujar Garhi area, and her dead body was found a day later.

MARDAN (Dunya News) – Four-year-old Asma’s parents are Saturday still looking for justice on the 14th day of the murder of their daughter as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police are unable to arrest the culprit.

Asma had gone missing on January 14 in Mardan’s Gujar Garhi area, and her dead body was found from sugarcane fields near her home on January 15 after rape.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had on Friday taken notice of the incident after the news was aired on media, and summoned report from KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Salahuddin Khan Mehsud within 24 hours.

On the other hand, Punjab government has sent the initial report to KP government. According to Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) Director General Dr Ashraf Tahir, samples taken from minor’s body have verified that she was raped before getting murdered.

Asma’s hair, nails and samples of skin were sent to the laboratory. Furthermore, her DNA test will be conducted in the next step. Dr Ashraf Tahir said the department is trying to complete all the tests as soon as possible.
