Rao Anwar, 10 policemen booked over Naqeebullah's alleged encounter

A first information report (FIR) was registered in Karachi's Sachal police station.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Case against former SSP Malir Rao Anwar and ten policemen was registered over involvement in the alleged encounter of Naqeebullah Mehsud on Wednesday.

A first information report (FIR) was registered in Karachi’s Sachal police station in the presence of Naqeebullah’s father Muhammad Khan and members of investigating team in which sections of murder, kidnapping and terrorism were added.

The FIR says that on January 3rd, Naqeebullah was kidnapped by plain-cloth personnel at Abul Hasan Ispahani Road at 3pm alongwith two other men, Qasim and Hazrat Ali, on the behest of Rao Anwar.

On January 6th, Qasim and Hazrat Ali were left on Super Highway while the family came to know about Naqeebullah’s fake encounter through media on January 17.

It has been revealed that both the men were freed after receiving bribery. They have now become eye-witnesses in the case and have also recorded their statements. 


Name placed on ECL


The suspended police officer’s name was earlier placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) on the orders of the Supreme Court after it took notice of his reported attempt to leave the country.

The court has also summoned Rao on January 27 in ‘personal capacity’. SC has fixed the date for hearing of suo-moto notice in Karachi registry today.


Union member Sultan taken into custody


Law enforcement agencies took a Gulshan View union member named Sultan under custody after raiding Abul Hassan Isphani Road area for the investigation of alleged staged encounter of Naqeeb Mehsud.

Sources told that Sultan was in contact with Faisal, the person involved in Naqeeb’s arrest. Only two of the four persons killed in encounter have been identified while the other two remain unknown.

Police sources claimed that one of these two is Nazar Muhammad who was the security guard of terrorist commander Hakeemullah Mehsud.
