Zainab murder case: SC expresses dissatisfaction over investigation

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Sunday conducted a suo moto hearing on case pertaining to Zainab’s rape and murder in Lahore Registry.

The joint investigation team (JIT) head Muhammad Idrees submitted report in the court which stated that only one person is behind the murders of all minors and his DNA has been found.

The apex court expressed dissatisfaction over police’s investigation and said it should also use conventional methods as well instead of only depending upon DNA samples.

Punjab Inspector General (IG) and DPO Kasur Zahid Nawaz Marwat were present on the occasion as well along with the parents of other seven girls who got murdered earlier.

The Supreme Court gave a 72-hour deadline to the IG to apprehend the responsible person.

The parents opted the stance that police are not taking any action to nab the culprit, and asked Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar to put the case to logical conclusion.

It is worth mentioning here that Mian Saqib Nisar had also expressed annoyance over lack of progress in Zainab murder case during the previous hearing. The whole nation is saddened over this incident, he had remarked.
