No media coverage will be given to the protesters after 12am, reads verdict.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday has allowed opposition parties to hold rally on Lahore’s Mall Road until 12am after which, no media coverage will be given to them.

A full-bench headed by Justice Ameen-ud-Din announced the verdict reserved on a petition filed against the sit-in and said that the opposition parties can utilize the venue until midnight.

During the hearing, Justice Shahid Kareem asked Punjab Advocate General that why Home Secretary didn’t appear in the court as he is answerable on this issue.

The judge also inquired about the steps taken by Punjab government to stop the rally over which, Advocate General said that the protesting parties have already been informed about the security threats.

The bench remarked that there is no reference of any law quoted in the government notification, which is a strange thing.

It is to be mentioned here that the plea requested the court to disallow political parties to hold protest on Mall Road as the business activities get seriously affected by this act.

The business fraternity said if this situation continues, they would be forced to stage a protest of their own, demanding that law be implemented.

On the other hand, passionate supporters, in large numbers, have started reaching the venue.

The protest comes in the wake of the Punjab government caught in the middle of scathing criticism following the brutal murder and rape of a seven-year-old girl in Kasur. Today’s protest will also demand accountability from the government over the Kasur incident.
