ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has allowed the banned International Non-Government Organisations (INGOs) to work freely until a final decision is taken regarding their appeals against ban.

The Ministry of Interior issued the orders after the intervention of Ahsan Iqbal in the matter. He had called for the operational affairs of INGOs in order to maintain the country’s image at global level.

The government of Pakistan has been reviewing the procedure to register these international organisations. Iqbal warned that those INGOs will have to leave the country which have been rejected by the concerned authorities.

The federal minister admitted that INGOs play an important role in the progress of economy and society, praising their services for nation building. Iqbal told that the registration applications of those INGOs were rejected that did not adopt the required procedure.

Earlier on January 1, Iqbal had directed the concerned section to remove obstacles in registration of authentic and active International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs). He had issued a statement saying, "We (PML-N government) believe in internationalism. The INGOs will have to ensure transparency."
