'Justice for Zainab': Rage on Twitter as seven-year-old girl's body found in Kasur

(Web Desk) – Rage over the brutal murder of a seven-year-old girl, who went missing in Kasur 6 days ago, has taken over social media in Pakistan, as politicians, sportsmen, activists and public at large took to the micro-blogging website Twitter to demand justice for the young child.

According to Dunya News, the minor went missing from Road Kot after her parents left for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. The girl was strangled to death after being raped, according to initial unofficial reports. Police officers recovered the body from a garbage heap near Zaki Ada. Her funeral prayer will be offered after her parents will return to Pakistan.

A First Investigation Report (FIR) has also been registered on the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif, who strongly condemned the heinous act and also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

Enraged lawyers boycotted judicial proceedings at district bar in protest and demanded early action into the matter. Local residents and shopkeepers in mourning of the young girl’s death announced shutter down in the city, reported Dunya News.

Many politicians, activists condemned the death of the young girl and demanded that the culprit should be brought to justice in tweets that flooded Twitter under the hashtag  Justice for Zainab .
