US announces to suspend security assistance to Pakistan targeting CSF
CSF funds are typically paid later in the year, and already require US certification.
WASHINGTON (Web Desk) – The United States administration said it is suspending security assistance to Pakistan targeting the Coalition Support Funds that the US pays to Pakistan to reimburse it for its counter-terrorism operations.
"Today we can confirm that we are suspending security assistance only to Pakistan at this time," State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert announced at a press briefing.
She continued that Pakistan could only receive the suspended funding if it takes decisive actions against Haqqani Network and Afghan Taliban.

Pakistan maintains that the billions it has received from the U.S. were mainly reimbursements for supporting U.S.-led coalition forces that invaded Afghanistan in 2001 to topple the Taliban regime that sheltered Al Qaeda.
The new action targets payments of so-called Coalition Support Funds that the US pays to Pakistan to reimburse it for its counter-terrorism operations. Those funds are typically paid later in the year, and already require US certification.
The move comes after President Trumpcategorically said “no more” aid to Pakistan in his recent tweet. The US President wrote that they foolishly gave over 33 billion dollars in aid to Pakistan over the past 15 years. He slammed Pakistan for only providing lies and deceit in reaction.
Trump reaffirmed his allegation that Pakistan provides safe haven to the terrorists and doesn’t cooperate in the anti-terrorism operation against the banned outfits in Afghanistan. “They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!” he tweeted.
