Prime suspect in Baldia factory fire case Rehman Bhola retracts confession

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Prime suspect in Baldia Town factory fire case Rehman Bhola has demanded retraction of his confession on Saturday claiming that the statement was recorded in pressure and by force.

The suspect told the court during a hearing of the case today that he did not offer a confessional statement last year by will and he did not put the factory on fire.

During the hearing, the prime accused requested the court to provide him report of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) concerning another accused, Rizwan.

Bhola was held by Bangkok Crime Suppression Division in Thailand in December 2016 and shifted to Pakistan through Interpol.

Bhola was residing in a five-star hotel in Thailand capital while he was wanted in Baldia Town factory case which was lodged with an anti-terrorism court (ATC) following a fire in the ill-fated factory in September 2012 claiming at least 250 lives and leaving hundreds wounded.

"Thai Interpol tracked this suspect following an arrest warrant sought by the Pakistani authorities," Thailand´s Interpol chief, Major General Apichart Suriboonya had told AFP.
