Chief executive, owners of unregistered medical colleges appear in SC

The judge has ordered to transfer all the cases related to medical colleges' fee to the apex court.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Executive and owners of unregistered medical colleges on Wednesday appeared before Supreme Court (SC) in a case pertaining to take high fee from the students.

A two member bench headed by CJP heard the suo moto case at Supreme Court (SC) Lahore registry.

During the proceedings, CJP remarked, “Every private medical college is making its own merit as yesterday, I was informed that Rs6.42 lac is being taken from the students but today, the amount has escalated to Rs9 lac.”

The judge has ordered to transfer all the cases related to medical colleges’ fee to the apex court, adding that SC will formulate the fee structure itself.

Meanwhile, female lawyer said that she raised an issue in the court after which she has received calls from governor son. Responding to the lawyer’s complaint, Justice Saqib summoned governor’s son.

Earlier today, vice chancellors of nine universities in a case pertaining to affiliating non-standard law colleges were summoned on January 20.

These universities include Punjab University, Peshawar University, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Islamia University, Gomal University, Balochistan University, Karachi University, University of Sindh and Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai University.

CJP Mian Saqib Nisar also sought details of eligibility of the law colleges and asked to submit the respective documents in this regard.

CJP also ordered to bring file of this case that is under hearing at Lahore High Court (LHC).
