NAB launches inquiry into Aleem Khan's offshore company

NAB Chairman has taken notice of the shell companies owned by some 435 Pakistanis.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has begun probe of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Aleem Khan’s offshore company on order of department chief Justice (r) Javed Iqbal after he was named in Panama Leaks in April 2016 among 435 Pakistanis.

NAB Chairman has taken notice of the shell companies owned by some 435 Pakistanis who were named in leak of Mossack Fonseca, a Panama-based law firm last year.

Reportedly, thorough inquiry has been launched into shell entities situated in British Virgin Islands and the accountability bureau has sought details of persons concerned from Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have also been directed to comply with NAB’s requirements for the inquiry.

Former chief of FBR Abdullah Yousaf and his families’ offshore companies are to be probed among those of other Pakistanis’.

Earlier this year, an inquiry into assets of then premier Nawaz Sharif got him disqualified from premiership on petitions that were filed following Panama Leaks.


NAB chiefs reviews performance


NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal chaired a meeting at headquarters to inspect the performance of the department.

NAB chief said that a total of 1,138 cases are under hearing at accountability courts. He asked about the reasons in delaying conclusions of 287 investigations for 10 months.

The chairman instructed NAB prosecutor to approach courts for the recovery of Rs900 billion.
