'Feel proud of PML-N to have re-elected Nawaz Sharif president of the party', says railways minister

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has said on Sunday that workers of political parties are the ones to decide who they wish to lead the political party they vote for.

The federal minister addressed a ceremony in the capital and in his speech he said that he feels proud of the party for re-electing Nawaz Sharif president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) despite disqualification as the premier of Pakistan by the top court.

He complained that democratic practices and norms have not been developed in Pakistan’s political parties. He said that politicians like Javed Hashmi should remain a part of political parties to keep their ‘line and length’ in check.

He also said that no lawmaker can dis struggle of Hashmi for a democratic Pakistan. The minister said that his father had a strong bond with Hashmi and that his partying of ways with PML-N was a very painful moment.

The minister also asserted that the man endured severe brutality in torture cells during former dictator Pervez Musharraf’s tenure.
Khawaja Rafique said that the state would function only in accordance with the constitution of Pakistan and there would be no compromise over supremacy of the constitution.

The minister cleared that the federally ruling party does not want clash with anyone but a few people cannot decide for the future of the nation.
