Mufti Muneeb urges Faizabad protesters to remain calm, requests govt to initiate talks
Mufti Muneeb said that the issue should be resolved without harming any human being.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman on Saturday has urged the government to send an authorized official for negotiation with the religious parties that are protesting in Faizabad.
Addressing a press conference, Mufti Muneeb said that the issue should be resolved without harming any human being. Pakistan can’t afford any mishap, he added.
He said Parliament restored Khatm-e-Nabuwat clause in its original form and that the tradition of sit-in was commenced by liberal outfits.
Earlier today, Federal Interior Ministry directed the local administration to postpone operation against Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek for another 24 hours as Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) deadline expired.
Contingents of Pakistan Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC) have been deployed at the sit-in site for operation. The administration has ordered police to remain on high-alert and some of the entry points of Islamabad have been blocked using containers.
Workers of religious parties, who camped in the outskirts of the federal capital in late October, have demanded law minister Zahid Hamid to step down following a ‘clerical mistake’ in amendments brought in Elections Act 2017 earlier this year.
In the new form-A, the words “I solemnly swear” have been replaced with “I believe” and the clause relating to Khatm-i-Naboowat has not been made applicable to non-Muslim candidates.
