Continuing sit-in despite effective legislation 'unjustified', Ahsan to religious parties
Iqbal said the government wants to end the sit-in peacefully through dialogue.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has urged the representatives of a religious group, protesting at Faizabad interchange in Islamabad to call off their sit-in and obey law of the land in larger interest of the country.
Addressing a news conference, Iqbal again invited them for talks to remove their reservations about Khatm-e-Nabuwwat law, if any. He said the government wants to end the sit-in peacefully through dialogue.
The minister said that the parliament has already made finality of Prophet-hood law foolproof and there is no ambiguity and shortcoming in it.
He categorically said firm belief in Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as the last Messenger of Allah Almighty, is the fundamental part of Islamic faith, which is also an integral part of the Constitution.
Ahsan Iqbal continued that the matter had already been settled once for all and it should not be politicized. He also urged upon the religious leaders and scholars to play their role in maintaining law and order situation in order to facilitate the residents of the twin cities.
The interior minister said that approval of law for finality of Prophethood by the Parliament was a historical decision and nobody could not change the law till the day of judgment. Therefore, he said now there was no justification for any sit-in to protest on this issue.
Ahsan Iqbal said implementation of the court order to remove Dharna was a legal requirement.
Earlier, Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday had once again issued strict warning to the religious parties to call off their sit-in that is being staged in Faizabad.
According to the court’s order, the administration was directed to disperse the protesters till Saturday at any cost. It also stated that the local government can take help of Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC) in this regard.
