NA passes amendment regarding delimitation of constituencies
Constitutional amendment bill was passed with two-third majority
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly has passed the constitutional Amendment Bill 2017 with two third majority in meeting held under the supervision of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. The bill seeks delimitation of constituencies based on census result.
The bill regarding delimitation of constituencies was put forward by Federal Minister of Law and Justice Zahid Hamid.
242 members of the National Assembly voted in the favor of the bill with the opposition of just one member.
According to the bill, 272 seats of National Assembly will remain intact but nine seats belonging to Punjab will be reduced while five seats will be added to the National Assembly for KPK.
Additionally, three seats in NA have been increased for Balochistan while one more seat has been added for Islamabad.
