Hearing of case challenging Nawaz's PML-N presidency adjourned till Nov 30

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday adjourned hearing of case aimed at preventing ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif from heading Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Chief Election Commissioner headed the hearing during which Babar Awan’s assistant requested that his senbior could not appear before the court due to his Supreme Court engagements therefore; additional time should be granted to them.

Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) lawyer said that high court had suspended some clauses of election act a day before.

CEC responded that a constitutional amendment has been made regarding the party presidency. He maintained that the court do not suspend any law of parliament but declare it annul instead.

ECP after concluding the arguments adjourned the hearing till November 30.

PTI, PAT and other political parties challenged Nawaz’s election as party chief after he was elected the president of PML-N unopposed on October 3.
