Islamabad: ATC grants bail to Imran in four cases, directs to cooperate in probe

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday has granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan in four cases and also directed him to fully cooperate in the investigation.

Imran Khan appeared before the court after a time span of one and a half year in the cases pertaining to attacks on Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) office and Parliament during sit-ins and forcibly releasing the suspects.

The court accepted his bail in aforementioned cases over surety bonds of Rs2 lac each and directed him to also submit guarantee of two people in this regard.

Imran Khan said, ‘Am I look like a terrorist as terrorism case was filed against me for staging peaceful protest.’

Talking to media after the hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Babar Awan said that propaganda is being carried out against his client for not appearing in the court. He said justice is not given to those being killed in the state torture.

On the other hand, Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) reserved judgment in Imran Khan disqualification case. CJP Saqib Nisar, during hearing, remarked not to expect verdict of the case to be announced soon as plaintiffs are yet to submit additional written material in the apex court.

Justice Saqib Nisar asked Imran Khan’s counsel Naeem Bukhari whether hiding assets in the nomination paper was an act of deliberate lying or a mistake. Upon this, Bukhari replied that it might be a mistake that Imran Khan failed to declare his income.
