KARACHI (Dunya News) – Political leader Ali Raza Abidi on Monday has resigned from National Assembly (NA) seat after quitting Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) over merger with Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

The leader has sent his resignation to NA Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

Ali Raza Abidi, who was elected from NA-251, had announced to contest elections against PSP Chief Mustafa Kamal as an independent candidate. He said that he stood by his earlier decision of resigning from National Assembly seat over the alliance with PSP.

‘No merger, not even alliance (like IJI and MMA) with PSP is acceptable for me at all,’ he continued.

On the other hand, the PSP-MQM merger ended up after chiefs of both parties hurled allegations at each other. In a press conference, MQM’s Farooq Sattar announced to quit politics but later he retracted, saying “My mother has asked me to take back my decision to quit politics and ordered to serve the people as before.”

Giving befitting response to him, PSP Chief Mustafa Kamal revealed that establishment arranged meetings of MQM and PSP leaders on Farooq Sattar’s wish.

“Farooq Sattar accused establishment of kidnapping him and forced him to hold press conference with PSP but the reality is that Sattar used establishment and talked to me for the merger of MQM and PSP," exposed Mustafa Kamal.
