KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chief Dr Farooq Sattar and leader Amir Khan have on Saturday been declared accused in an interim challan by police in the media houses and hate speech cases.

An investigation officer Hameed Ullah told an anti-terrorism court (ATC) that police have requested the interior ministry to form a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe Farooq Sattar and Amir Khan.

Hameed Ullah told the court that police contacted Farooq Sattar and Amir Khan multiple times for investigation but they kept giving the excuse of absence of their lawyers.

The officer further told that a questionnaire was sent to both leaders on the direction of higher authorities, and they replied a month later. Farooq Sattar and Amir Khan tried to hide the facts as their answers were contrary to the statements that were recorded by other suspects of the case before the JIT, he maintained.

He said the department will ask the court to direct the accused to appear before the JIT once it is approved by the interior ministry. On the other hand, Farooq Sattar has remarked that there is no point in lodging cases against us after parting ways with leadership in London.
