ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The accountability court has declared former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s children Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz as absconders after both failed to appear in the court despite non-bailable arrest warrants issued against them last week.

The court has also issued final arrest warrants against the accused while their case will be heard separately.

Hassan and Hussain, who are facing corruption cases in Pakistan, are residing in London.

Speaking to media outside the court today (Monday), Maryam Nawaz said her brothers are living abroad and Pakistani laws do not apply on them.

Earlier, the anti-corruption authorities arrested Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar in connection with corruption cases pending against him. He was arrested from the Islamabad airport on his arrival from London and presented before an anti-graft tribunal.

The accused was released after the accountability court approved bail pleas submitted by him and Maryam Nawaz.

Nawaz Sharif, his daughter, his son-in-law and his two sons face corruption cases after an investigation into documents leaked from a Panama law firm indicated that Sharif and some of his family members had undisclosed assets abroad.

Sharif was disqualified from office in July.
