Senate Standing Committee on Finance demands Dar�s resignation

Several members of the committee have asked the minister to resign.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Senate Standing Committee on Finance has urged the Federal Finance Ishaq Dar to immediately resign from his office as NAB’s corruption reference against him in the accountability court has created a bad name in the financial sector.

Several members of the committee including its chairman Saleem Mandviwala have asked Ishaq Dar to resign. One of the members of the Committee said Dar has been called by NAB for inquiry while he is currently sitting in London.

Another member also asked Ishaq Dar to resign as it has been creating bad name for Pakistan.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Lahore-based team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided the house of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar after his summon regarding corruption references in accountability court was issued last week.

NAB has also frozen the assets held by Dar after directions to all banks, development authorities and commissioners in writing. Banks have been told to suspend the transactions until further orders. NAB has confiscated his movable and non-movable assets.
