ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris on Thursday continued his arguments in Supreme Court (SC) over Sharif family’s review petitions against Panama Leaks verdict.

A five-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan conducted the hearing of the case.

During the proceeding, Khawaja Harris said Article 62 is not about showing assets however, the result of its implementation is serious. He said that disqualification is not for lifetime as per Representation of People Act.

Nawaz Sharif was disqualified over FZE issue, he added.

The lawyer continued that the meaning and interpretation of asset is more than one word over which Justice Ejaz Afzal said that it is not written anywhere that you cannot take salary.

The decision was given on facts, he added.

Earlier, the larger bench told Khawaja Harris that the Panama verdict was unanimous, adding that there could be various reasons behind ousting Nawaz Sharif.

Khawaja Harris said that the point on which his client was sacked was not enough and that his client deserves a chance of fair trial.

SC had disqualified Nawaz Sharif in Panama case verdict on the basis of his non-withdrawn salary, considering it part of his assets on July 28.
