KARACHI (Dunya News) – Banned outfit Ansar-al-Sharia’s head Doctor Abdullah Hashmi has on Wednesday made some shocking revelation and admitted that he contacted Al Qaeda’s Abdullah Baloch for an alliance.

Dr Abdullah said he made the group two years ago and when he asked Baloch for help, he told us to work on our own. The outfit, he continued, then started target killing of police to prove a point. Ansar-al-Sharia also targeted Balochistan Levies.

Hashmi let it be known that Ansar-al-Sharia consists of highly educated boys of institutions like University of Karachi, NED University of Engineering and Technology, and Dawood University of Engineering and Technology.

Sarosh Siddiqui, the suspected mastermind behind attack on Khawaja Izhar, is a student of Karachi University and left Jaish-e-Mohammad in 2008. The accused used to dress in police uniform in a home in Sohrab Goth.

Dr Abdullah also admitted that his group has been trained in Afghanistan. The suspect identified as Hassaan who got killed while attempting Khawaja Izharul Hassan’s assassination was 27 years old, he said. Hassaan aka Waleed was a teacher at Dawood University and his salary was Rs45000, he added.

Abdullah Hashmi further told that Hassaan used to give half of his money to the outfit, and half to his family. Hassaan’s mother is a doctor, and his father is a professor, he said. Sources have disclosed that his family was not aware of his activities.

It has further been learnt that the workers of Ansar-al-Sharia used to get in touch with each other through WhatsApp, and important details have been recovered from Hassaan’s mobile phone regarding his companions. Intelligence agencies have so far arrested eight group members.
