Sacked premier submitted written reply in which he challenged steps of inquiry by NAB

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced that he will not appear before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for inquiry which filed references against the Sharif family on the orders of top court in Panama case verdict.

Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer submitted written reply in which he said he will not appear before NAB officers, challenging their steps for inquiry. The writing submitted to investigation team of NAB said the law being used to probe is against the regulations. Authority of inquiry only belongs to NAB chairman, it stated.

On the behalf of Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz and Ishaq Dar, lawyer Amjad Pervez submitted the two-page reply in which the objections are raised. He argued that the aforementioned people have right to fair trail according to Article 10. He called NAB’s actions illegal in view of review appeals.

He met party leaders yesterday in Raiwind where he discussed the future strategy of his family on corruption references filed by NAB. They decided not that the members of Sharif family should not appear before NAB as review appeals were already filed in Supreme Court. Sharif family ignored the summons issued by NAB and no member went to answer their inquiry, however, they asked them to provide the questionnaire of the investigation first.
