PAT was to protest against Model Town massacre on Lahores Mall Road on August 16

(LAHORE) – Lahore High Court (LHC) barred Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) from staging protests on Mall Road of the provincial capital.

A petition was filed in LHC to stop PAT Chief Tahir-ul-Qadri from arranging sit-ins at Mall Road at which Justice Mamoon-ur-Rasheed ruled that no one will be allowed to protest on Mall Road. Punjab advocate general said that the court’s orders will be implemented. On the other hand, PAT requested for time to submit their reply.

Also, Punjab government has not given permission to PAT leaders in their pursuit. The call was made in the cabinet committee meeting. It was attended by provincial minister, secretaries and other important officials. The reasons based to withdraw permission were imposition of section-144 on Mall Road, intelligence reports and orders issued by department of interior.

PAT had announced to carry out sit-ins against the injustice in Model Town massacre at the core of the city on August 16. They demand justice over the Punjab police operation at Minhaj-ul-Quran office which not only injured several people but also damaged property and resulted in the loss of over a dozen lives.
