JIT members to be made witnesses in NAB references against Sharif family
Justice Ijazul Ahsan will supervise the cases.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to make six members of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) as main witnesses in the four references against Sharif family.
Sources told that NAB will record statements of JIT members that include Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Additional Director General Wajid Zia, Military Intelligence’s Brig Kamran Khurshid, National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Director Irfan Naeem Mangi, State Bank of Pakistan’s Amer Aziz, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan’s (SECP) Executive Director Bilal Rasool and Inter-Services Intelligence’s Brig Muhammad Nauman Saeed.
Justice Ijazul Ahsan, appointed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, will supervise the cases.
On the other hand, the appointment of a judge for the monitoring of the references was challenged in Supreme Court.

In its judgment in the Panama Papers case on July 28, a five-member Supreme Court bench had directed NAB to file references against Nawaz Sharif, his children and son-in-law Capt (r) Muhammad Safdar before the Accountability Court within six weeks on the basis of the material collected and referred to by the JITin its report and such other material.
“In case the Accountability Court finds any deed, document or affidavit filed by or on behalf of the respondent(s) or any other person(s) to be fake, false, forged or fabricated, it shall take appropriate action against the concerned person in accordance with law,” the court stated.
On August 15, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidate Shahid Khaqan Abbasi became new PM after securing 221 votes in the National Assembly.
Later, a 43-member new federal cabinet that included 27 federal and 16 state ministers took oath in a ceremony at Prime Minister House in Islamabad.
