'New PM will be elected if SC disqualifies Nawaz Sharif before elections'
The official said that the general elections would be carried out on its time.
ISLAMABAD (Daily Dunya) - A senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) official said that the party is unlikely to call an early election if Sharif ousted by a Supreme Court (SC) ruling, and would select a new prime minister to take over until the general election.
Talking to international news agency Reuters, the official said that the general elections would be carried out on its time.
Earlier speaking to the media after a three-hour appearance before Panama Leaks Joint Investigation Team (JIT), PM Nawaz said that he has presented himself, government and family before the team for trial.
He said, “We will not only be successful in the proceeding of JIT but also in the next General Elections with overwhelming support of the nation.”
He said that his personal businesses have nothing to do with the national treasure as these allegations are on a personal level, adding that the opponents will be unsuccessful no matter how many conspiracies they hatch against him or his family.
Nawaz Sharif said that today is a historic day for the supremacy of the constitution and law in Pakistan. He said that he was held accountable in both Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pervez Musharraf’s era but no charge of corruption proved against him and his family.
