Video recordings can't be presented before the court, SC tels Attorney General of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) has remarked on Wednesday that a lot is being done to hinder probe of Panamagate Joint Investigation Team (JIT) as it reserved the verdict in Hussain Nawaz’s picture leak case.

Justice Ejaz Afzal-led bench of the apex court heard Hussain Nawaz’s JIT picture leak case and reserved the verdict.

During the hearing, Justice Ejaz Afzal told Attorney General of Pakistan that the court only accepted black and white statements and not any video recordings. Justice Afzal said that a recording would help the party leadership in the future contrary to his stance that it could be misused.

Justice Ijazul Hassan remarked that, apparently, it seemed as an act to influence the investigations and that a lot is being done to hinder the proceedings of the probe.

Attorney General of Pakistan maintained that the court was not pleaded to have Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s appearance before the JIT pushed. He asserted that the probe committee did not seek apex court’s permission to record videos of hearings.

To which, Justice Ijazul Hassan reiterated that video recordings could not be presented in the SCP and that the bench was well-informed of what was going on during the JIT proceedings.

He further said that the court could not be threatened or bullied.
