Questions were raised over the interrogation procedure of JIT after Hussain Nawaz's leaked photo

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Qatari Prince Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al Thani will not appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for Panama case as questions have been raised over the transparency of its interrogation, sources told on Monday.

It was further stated that doubts surfaced after the leaked photo of Hussain Nawaz, premier’s son, was posted on social media, adding that the pictures and investigation details were being shared which is why it will not be possible for the Qatari Prince to record his statements before JIT.

The decision to not appear before JIT is not surprising, however, the expression of doubts in investigation procedure as well as raising the matter of transparency is a fairly recent development. The impression of doubt has been created in JIT’s interrogation with these reservations. According to Qatari sources, no witness can record the statements in such circumstances which appeared after the leaked photo of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son while he was being questioned by JIT at the Judicial Academy.

PML-N lawmaker Talal Chaudhry said that a sealed letter from the Qatari Prince was given to JIT, adding the Qatari Prince is responsible for lending money to PM Nawaz for London flats. He further told the letter was sent again, this time with verification from the prince himself.

It should be recalled that Qatari letter was produced before the Supreme Court s five-member bench to probe Panama case by Sharif family s lawyer. The document was dated Nov 5, 2016, from the prince who ruled Qatar from 2007 to 2013 as Prime Minister.

The Qatari letter from Prince Al Thani read "Hamad’s father — Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani had longstanding business relations with Mian Mohammad Sharif — Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s father."

Meanwhile, another JIT has been formed to probe the leaked photo of Hussain Nawaz.
