'Disillusioned' Indian wife petitions Islamabad High Court for repatriation

The high court has directed the ministry to file a report in the issue within a period of five days

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Disillusioned Indian woman who allegedly learnt about her Pakistani husbands lies and decided to end the relation has maintained in a court on Friday that her life is threatened and she should be repatriated.

Islamabad High Court has instructed Ministry of the Interior to file a reply over Uzma’s plea. The Indian national has stated in her petition that Tahir Ali was a married man already who tied a nuptial knot with her on gun point.

She has maintained in the plea that her five-year-old daughter named Falak who is back in India has fallen ill and it is needed of her to visit her as soon as possible.

The high court has directed the ministry to file a report in the issue within a period of five days for required proceedings in the case.

On the other hand, the court accepted apology rendered by first secretary of Indian embassy for clicking pictures of Justice Mohsin Akhtar during the hearing and returned his mobile phone which was confiscated for the violation.

20-year-old Uzma met Tahir in Malaysia and the couple travelled to Pakistan on May 1st. The two contracted a court marriage on May 3rd in Buner District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The couple went to the Indian High Commission to apply for Tahir’s visa on May 6th.

After submitting visa forms and their mobile phones, Uzma went in after being called by the officials but didn’t return. Tahir lodged a First Information Report (FIR) in the Secretariat Police Station against his wife’s ‘confinement’.

It was revealed by Indian High Commission later that she had found out about Tahir’s first marriage owing to which she changed her mind and turned back on the decision to live with him.
