Practice of making Rangers' role controversial after every three months must end: Nisar

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has on Saturday demanded Sindh government to not make the role of Rangers in Karachi controversial every three months.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan expressed his views while addressing the passing out parade at Rangers Training Center and said Sindh government should stop creating hurdles and start helping us.

The interior minister said Sindh Rangers have rendered unrivalled sacrifices and services to reinstate peace in Karachi for past three years by transcending all political pressures.

Chaudhry Nisar continued that whole Pakistan will benefit from peace in Karachi. One person had high jacked its peace back in 2013, but situation has changed significantly now, he said.

The minister remarked that a hard task was assigned to Sindh Rangers in 2013 when they were facing internal as well as external threats.

“We should not forget 33 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for restoring peace,” the interior minister said.

He told that Sindh Rangers conducted 9500 operations in past three years in which 7500 terrorists and criminals were arrested.

“Whole Pakistan respects Rangers’ efforts for restoring peace in Karachi,” He added.

Interior minister also extoled performance of police and intelligence agencies, and said they must bring Karachi’s operation to its logical end. He continued that our forces are facing foreign threats.

“Threats also exist from enemies who are hiding under guise of friendship,” the interior minister said.

The interior minister also told that Sindh Rangers’ budget has been lifted from Rs7 billion to Rs12 billion.

Meanwhile, a high level meeting was held at Rangers Headquarters in Karachi today with Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan in the chair.

The meeting reviewed Karachi operation, internal security situation of the country and role of civil and armed forces.

DG Rangers Sindh briefed the Interior Minister about the Karachi operation.
