Govt lifts moratorium on gas connections

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired meeting of the federal cabinet.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The federal cabinet on Wednesday approved recommendation of Cabinet Committee on Energy regarding lifting of moratorium on gas connections.

The meeting headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also approved Execution of Gas Development Schemes during the present government.


HAJJ POLICY


While approving Hajj policy 2017, the Prime Minister rejected proposal regarding hike in cost of Hajj this year.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the Ministry of Religious Affairs to fully facilitate the pilgrims. He also asked the ministry to review Hajj expenditures and present them before the next cabinet meeting.


HOUSING FACILITY FOR POOR


While giving presentation on housing sector, Minister for Planning, Development, and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal briefed the participants on various housing models for low and middle income segments in the country.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the government is committed to provision of housing facility to the poor.

He remarked that urbanization is continuing at a rapid pace due to developmental activities in the country, therefore, it is need of the hour to cater to the housing demand across the country.

The meeting formed a sub-committee headed by the Minister for Housing to finalise a detailed plan on housing within ten days and present it in the next session.
