NEW DELHI (Dunya News) - A day after Pakistan handed over death penalty to apprehended Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj said he is India s son and the country would  go out of the way to save him .

Pakistan on Monday sentenced Jadhav to death for his involvement in espionage and sabotage activities in Karachi and Balochistan. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed his death sentence.

While making a statement on the matter in Indian parliament, Swaraj cautioned the Pakistani government to consider the consequences for their bilateral relationship if they proceed on this matter.

She said that if Pakistan carried out the death sentence it would be “premeditated murder”.

“Charges against Kulbhushan Jadhav are concocted. There is no evidence of wrong-doing by him,” she told the parliament.

The apprehended RAW officer was tried through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under Pakistan Army Act (PAA). He was tried under section 59 of Pakistan Army Act (PAA) 1952 and Section III of official Secret Act of 1923.

Jadhav alias Hussein Mubarak Patel was arrested on March 3, 2016 through a Counter Intelligence Operation from Mashkel, Balochistan.

In March last year, authorities released a video in which the Indian spy confessed to New Delhi’s alleged involvement in terrorist activities in Balochistan.

After much hue and cry from the neighbouring country, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif slammed Indian media during an interview saying that India was sponsoring cross-border terrorism in Pakistan. He made it clear that Kulbhushan Jadhav’s death sentence was a warning for those hatching conspiracies against the country.
