CTD carried out raid on a tip-off that some terrorists are trying to enter Sindh from Balochistan.

SUKKUR (Dunya News) - A terrorist suspected of involvement in various terrorism incidents including the 2014 Karachi airport attack, the Mehran base attack and the murder of Superintendent Police Chaudhry Aslam and Amjad Sabri was killed on Monday in a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) encounter in Sukkur.

CTD carried out the raid on a tip-off that some terrorists are trying to enter Sindh from Balochistan.

Teams of CTD from Larkana and Sukkur surrounded areas bordering Balochistan. Exchange of fire took place when terrorists riding a motorbike opened fire when police tried to stop them at a checkpoint. One terrorist was killed whereas two others managed to flee from the scene.

Superintendant Police CTD Umer Shaid told media that the killed terrorist has been identified as Kamran Jamshed Bhatti and was affiliated with the Naeem Bukhari faction of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi.

“Last November, we arrested some suspects from whom Amjad Sabri’s case, Karachi airport attack, Mehran base attack and the murder of Superintendent Police Chaudhry Aslam was detected. After Naeem Bukhari, Kamran Bhatti was the major figure in Lashkar-i-Jhangvi,” said the SP.

Police also recovered explosive material and weapons from the possession of the suspects.

The area has been cordoned off for the arrest of the escaped terrorists.
