Punjab govt launches Metro feeder buses in Lahore

200 new air-conditioned public buses would operate on feeder routes.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif today (Monday) formally launched 200 new air-conditioned public buses on feeder routes for the Lahore Metro Bus routes. The feeder bus service will connect the rest of the city with the 27-km-corridor of the Metro Bus.

As per details, there will be 14 routes (129 Km of route length) and the bus will arrive after every 10 minutes. There will be automatic fare collection system.



The buses will be equipped with features of automated announcement, surveillance system, ramp for specially challenged person (wheelchair passengers), seats for specially challenged persons, door sensor for passengers’ safety and temperature inside the bus can also be viewed in the control centre.



Also, same Metrobus Card will be used both in the feeder bus and Metro Bus System.

An integrated fare will be charged for travel between two points irrespective of the number of modes/services and operators involved in making the journey.

Flat fare of Rs. 15 per trip will be charged from the passenger traveling in feeder buses irrespective of travelled distance while additional Rs. 5 per trip will be charged for passenger transferring from feeder bus to Metro Bus.

No additional fare will be charged from passenger transferring from Metro Bus to feeder bus. Additional fare of Rs. 5 per trip will be charged for passenger transferring from feeder to feeder buses. Maximum fare of Rs. 25 will be charged for three trips.

As per details, passengers can transfer to next bus within 30 minutes to avail discounted fare.

The feeder buses will operate between 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
