LHC orders inclusion of 'disabled' column in census form

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered the inclusion of the column about ‘handicapped’ people in the Census data collection form, reported Dunya News.

According to details, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah heard the petition filed by Shafeeq-ur Rahaman regards to the matter.

In his remarks, the chief justice cleared out that the safety of disabled persons is extremely essential and that they cannot be ignored in the upcoming census at any cost.

Syed Mansoor Ali Shah professed that if the number of disabled and transgender people in our society is found out; we will certainly do a huge favor to certain groups of a society.

The court subsequently ordered the concerned departments to add the column in the form.
