SWABI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Army captain and a sepoy embraced martyrdom during exchange of fire with terrorists in Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday morning.

The clash took place when security forces conducted raid on a militant compound during an intelligence-based operation in Malikabad area.

“During exchange of fire Capt Junaid and Sepoy Amjad embraced shahadat,” the Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release.

According to ISPR, the compound was surrounded and five terrorists were killed during the operation.

"Sacrifice of our Shaheeds will not go waste. Terrorist will be brought to their end and held accountable for their Fasaad," Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa said.

Security has been beefed up after commencement of a countrywide anti-terror operation called Raddul Fasaad (elimination of discord), following a wave of terrorist attacks claimed more than 100 lives in different cities during one week.

More than hundred terrorists have been killed and dozens detained during ongoing operation so far.

Earlier on Sunday, six Pakistani soldiers were martyred after militants from Afghanistan attacked several border posts in the country’s restive northwest tribal region.

After the attacks, Pakistan lodged a protest with Afghanistan and urged the government there to thoroughly investigate the incidents and take firm action against the terrorists operating from its soil to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

The attackers targeted border outpost in Mohmand and Khyber tribal region along the border with Afghanistan.
